How should you sit on the toilet?

Here at the PROPPR we harp on a bit about the proper position to poo. It’s the whole reason our stools (for great stools!) exist after all.

The best way to poo is to prop a squat – but that’s not easily done on our pedestal toilets. In fact we don’t encourage it because it could be downright dangerous! And on top of all of that, for most of us our leg muscles just aren’t used to comfortably getting down on our haunches.

So… the next best thing is to a use a foot stool that allows your knees to be higher than your hips. This effectively unkinks your colon, removing the little S-bend that is created when we sit on our ‘thrones’.

Did you know that the average time spent seated on a toilet is between 114-130 seconds while in a squat position it’s just 51 seconds? Reclaim some time people!

But don’t just take our word. A PROPPR friend recently sent us a link to this fabulous little video and we just had to share.
